What is SSH?

SSH (Secure Shell) is a program used to log into another system over a network, to execute commands on a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communication services over unsecured channels. It is intended as a replacement for rlogin, rsh, telnet and rcp.
