What is SSL?

A Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the first line of defense against online intruders. It is a protocol that transmits your communications over the Internet in an encrypted form. An SSL Certificate ensures that the information sent is unchanged and sends it only to the intended server. E-Commerce sites frequently use SSL technology to safeguard credit card information.
